Is it safe to travel to Morocco?
Although Morocco is 97% Muslim – it is an African country and the people are warm and friendly with a great sense of humour. Their life is simple and uncomplicated. I travelled in Morocco for 8 weeks as a single female and always felt safe.
The larger cities in Morocco are like any large city – it is wise to keep your wits about you and not put yourself in dangerous situations.
What language do they speak in Morocco?
Moroccans speak Berber, Arabic, French and some can also speak Spanish or English
Can I drink the water in Morocco?
It is not safe to drink the water in Morocco. We would recommend you drink bottled water at all times – even when cleaning your teeth. The hygiene in smaller towns are definitely not as good as western standards.
Do I need to tip in Morocco?
The wages are very very low in Morocco and tips are definitely expected. It is wise to keep small change available to tip your waiters and driver. Tips for the guides are covered in the cost of your tour.
Can I use my mobile phone in Morocco?
It is advisable to get a local sim card if you wish to make local calls. We recommend using data based technology for international calls like Facebook messenger or whats app. These calls are free.
Will there be internet access available on the tour?
Most restaurants and hotels have internet connection available. Having said that the service is not always reliable. This tour is a great opportunity to ease yourself away from the dependency on your mobile phone.
What is the currency in Morocco?
MAD or Moroccan Dirham
Will I need cash or do places accept credit cards?
You will need cash in a lot of places and small currency is best. You can however use credit card and you can also withdraw money from ATMs. We will take you to ATMs in the towns we visit when you need to get more cash.
Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is compulsory and critical. You will be required to show evidence of your travel insurance on the first night of the tour.
Are there any local customs, traditions, religion that I need to be aware of?
Morocco is a Muslim country and as such women should ensure shoulders and knees are covered at all times.
